Independent Publisher Book Award

The Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY), launched in 1996, are designed to bring increased recognition to titles published by independent authors and publishers. Previous winners of the IPPY Award include Jeffrey Lewis for Meritocracy: A Love Story, Matthew Sharpe for The Sleeping Father, and Leif Enger for Peace Like a River.

1,500 publishers participated in the 2006 Awards, and entries came in from all 50 U.S. states and Washington D.C., seven Canadian provinces, and 14 countries overseas. 2006 awards went out to authors and publishers from 48 U.S. states, six Canadian provinces, and five countries overseas, and a large percentage of them were self-published or P.O.D. published.
