The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, located in Gujarat, is a part of the Indian Institutes of Technology System. The institution has started functioning from 2008-09 from a temporary campus at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda, Gandhinagar under mentorship of IIT Bombay.

Academic Programs
In its first year, i.e. academic year 2008-2009, three programmes were offered.
- Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering
- Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering
Admission to these programmes is through the JEE and students are admitted after completing 10+2 schooling. Later on, more academic and research programs will be offered as in other IITs.
