Founded in 1950, The Indian School, Bahrain was started with a workforce of three staff and a Headmistress.
And over the last fifty-eight years of its successful existence, it has made significant contribution towards the cause of education.
The Indian School in Bahrain is one of the largest expatriate schools in the Persian Gulf region having a strength of 8000 students with campuses at Sitrah and Isa Town.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and mainly aims at providing education to children of Indian origin living in Bahrain, although students of other nationalities are also admitted. The school gives the students an appreciation for Indian culture and traditions.
A book is being written on the history of the school and will be available soon. This is the first school in Bahrain and third in gulf to get a ISO 9001:2000 certifcate.Also the first school to start multimedia teaching form 6th to 8th classes.Every classroms contains a LCD monitor which costs 1000 BHD. The principal is A.S.Pillai and the current Chairman of Indian School is Abraham John.Indian school hosts 2 youth festivals each year.They are Rithu& Harmony.While Rithu is an inter house competition, Harmony is an inter school competition.There is a new block for 12th and 11th is Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Block.
