Sports Science and Medicine:

injury prevention

Avoidance of injury. Technically, there are three main categories of injury prevention: primary prevention focuses on health promotion and disease prevention; secondary prevention focuses on early diagnosis and appropriate treatment that limits the development of any injury; and tertiary prevention focuses on rehabilitation to correct or reduce any disability resulting from an injury. Commonly, the term injury prevention is used as a synonym for primary prevention.
