INSAD CAGES
A mnemonic for diagnosing depression. IN = loss of INterest in pleasurable activities; S = suicidal thoughts; A = change of Activity (usually decreased); D = Dysthymia (depressed feelings); C = decreased Concentration; A = loss of Appetite; G = Guilt feelings; E = change in Energy levels (usually decreased); S = changes in Sleep patterns (often insomnia). The simultaneous occurrence of six or more of the above criteria is highly indicative of a major depression.
