interactional model

Sports Science and Medicine: interactional model

A model proposing that an individual's behaviour is determined by the interaction between the individual's personality traits and the environmental situation in which the behaviour occurs. This is sometimes summarized in the equation B = f (PE), where B is behaviour, f is function, P is personality trait, and E is environment. Many sport psychologists adopt the interactional model in their studies of athletes’ behaviour.
