International Military Tribunal
The organization authorized by the London Agreement (August 8, 1945) among Great Britain, the provisional government of France, the Soviet Union, and the United States to conduct the trials of those major Axis war criminals of World War II whose offenses were not contained by a specific geographic location. It consisted of one member, plus an alternate, selected by each of the four nations, and its first session occurred on October 18, 1945.
