International Youth Congress of Esperanto

Wikipedia: International Youth Congress of Esperanto

The International Youth Congress of Esperanto or Internacia Junulara Kongreso is the biggest annual meeting of young esperantists in the world. The participants come from all over the world for an entire week and they usually number around 300, although there has been a congress with more than 1000 esperanto-speakers. The congress takes place in a different country every year and is organised by the 'Tutmonda Esperantista Junulara Organizo', better known as TEJO, World Esperanto Youth Organisation, the youth wing of the UEA. Both the IJK and the World Congress of Esperanto take place each summer, usually in consecutive weeks but rarely in the same country.

In 2006, the event was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2007 it was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, and in 2008 it was held in Szombathely, Hungary. The 65th IJK was held from July 18 to July 25, 2009, in Liberec, Czech Republic. The 66th IJK will take place from July 24 to July 31, 2010, in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba.
