.is is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Iceland. .is registration is open to foreigners without restriction. The country code is derived from the first two letters of Ísland, the Icelandic word for Iceland. According to McAfee, .is was amongst the 5 most secure TLDs in the world in 2007 and 2008.[1] As of May 2009 there were 25,086 registered .is domains.[2]
