(Interim Standard-136) The second generation of the TDMA digital cellular system. TDMA operates in North America in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. First introduced in 1994, IS-136 is also known as "Digital AMPS" and "D-AMPS." See TDMA and IS-54.
