At temperatures greater than 176°F (80°C), eukaryotic DNA will
become single-stranded. Single-stranded eukaryotic DNA does not always have the
characteristic secondary helical structure. Single-stranded DNA can form a
hairpin, stem, or a cross. Certain viruses have only single-stranded DNA.
