Biography

Like Phil Spector before him, producer John Giotto is the driving creative force behind It's My Party, a band that pays homage to the girl groups of the '60s even as it brings their sound to the present day. Giotto began the group in the late '80s with a trio of twentysomething singers, initially creating a sound that owed more to the Go-Go's rather than the Ronettes. When that original incarnation fizzled out in 1995, Giotto realized that something had been missing from the equation all along: Real teenagers singing these anthems of teenage femininity. He recruited three girls from a nearby high school and It's My Party was finally formed. Though the singers have occasionally rotated, Giotto keeps the group dedicated to preserving the '60s girl group phenomenon through new interpretations of both classic hits and original material. ~ Matthew Springer, All Music Guide
