Iver Paul Fredrik Holter (13 December 1850-1941) was a Norwegian composer and was music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1882 until 1886. Born in Gausdal, Norway, he first studied music with Johan Svendsen, and afterwards in both Leipzig and Berlin. After returning home to Kristiania, he became a central figure in the city's musical life. In 1890 he founded Kristiania Bys Orkester, and he was conductor for the Musikkforeningen i Oslo for a quarter century. Among his compositions are a symphony, a violin concerto and the orchestral work St. Hanskvæld. He is buried in Vår Frelsers gravlund in Oslo, Norway.
