J. B. Lippincott Company

J. B. Lippincott Company was a publishing house in the United States of America. Founded in Philadelphia by bookstall operators Benjamin Warner and Jacob Johnson in 1792 as a small book publisher, it became one of the largest publishers in the English-speaking world by the middle of the 19th century.

The company was bought by Harper & Row in 1978, and then by Wolters Kluwer in 1990. Under Wolters Kluwer it was merged with Raven Publishers and then with Williams & Wilkins to form Lippincott Williams & Wilkins in 1998.
