Biography

Originally a native of Portland, OR, Justin Boland (aka J-Boogie) relocated to San Francisco, CA, and founded the Dubtronic Science collective. Originally the name of his radio show, the concept expanded into the clubs. Dubtronic combines the soul of world music, hip-hop, broken beat, and deep house in a live improvisational setting. Justin "J Boogie" Boland is an American DJ/producer from San Francisco, California. He is signed to the Om Records label, and has been featured on every OM Lounge release. His style includes a mixture of hip-hop, funk, nujazz, afrobeat, latin, dancehall, soul, and electronic. He is the co-creator of the radio show "Beatsauce," along with DJ's Raw B, and Wisdom on KUSF, which was awarded "Best hip-hop show" by citysearch.com, the S.F. Bay Guardian, and the S.F. Weekly.


J Boogie's Dubtronic Science

J has a group called J Boogie's Dubtronic Science, which features himself and a few other frequent contributors. Although Dubtronic Science uses production techniques popularized in Dub music, the album does not fall under that genre. Since the release of the J Boogie's Dubtronic Science album in 2003, J has only released singles or remixes of popular songs from the previous album.
