Jacob Christoph Le Blon (May 2, 1667 – May 16, 1741) was a German-born painter and engraver who invented the system of three-color and four-colour printing, using an RYB color model similar to the modern CMYK system.[2] He used several metal plates (each for an individual colour) for making prints with a wide range of colours. His methods formed the foundation for modern colour printing.
His names are sometimes spelled Jakob, Jacques, Christophe, Leblon, Le Blond.[3][4]
