Chevalier, Jacques (1882-1962). French Catholic philosopher. Professor of philosophy at Grenoble, his Catholic Bergsonism influenced Mounier, Lacroix, and others. Briefly minister of education, and of the family, under Vichy, Chevalier is best known for his compendious Histoire de la pensée (1955-61).
