This artist began recording on the Texas blues scene back in the '50s. Credited as both Jimmy Ford and James Ford, he plays both trumpet and trombone and was a session regular for independent labels, including Trumpet. He should not be confused with the Jimmy Ford from Chicago who played trumpet and led a show band in the '60s and '70s. In and around Houston, the trumpeter also has to make sure he is not mistaken for the saxophonist Jimmy Ford. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
