James W. Gilchrist is an American politician from the state of Maryland. Gilchrist currently serves as one of three members of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 17, which includes Rockville and Gaithersburg in Montgomery County. Gilchrist was elected in 2006, coming in third behind incumbents Kumar P. Barve and Luiz R. S. Simmons. He is the son of former Montgomery County Executive Charles W. Gilchrist.
