Mirza Jamiluddin Ahmed Khan Aali (Urdu: مرزا جمیل الدین احمد خان عالی) popularly known as Jamiluddin Aali or Jameeluddin Aali (Urdu: جمیل الدین عالی), Pride of Performance, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (b. January 20, 1926 Delhi) is a noted Urdu poet, critic, playwright, essayist, columnist and scholar of Pakistan. He is known for his famous national song Jeeway Jeeway Pakistan.

Life

Jamiluddin Aali hails from a literay family of Delhi where he was born on January 20, 1926. His grandfather, Nawab Allauddin Ahmed Khan was a friend and student of Ghalib. His father Sir Ameeruddin Ahmed Khan was also a poet, and his mother belonged to a family of Mir Dard. Aali did B.A. and M.A. Economics from Delhi University. After partition of India, his family migrated to Pakistan and settled in Karachi. He joined Civil Services of Pakistan in 1951, later Aali also did F.E.L. and LL.B. in 1971 from Karachi University. In 1967, he joined National Bank, and served there till his retirement as senior executive vice president and member executive board.
