The militarization of India since the death of Mahatma Gandhi is explored in this documentary, a labor of love for director Anand Patwardhan. Jang aur Aman (War and Peace) explores the country's growing tension with neighboring Pakistan and focuses in particular on nuclear proliferation between the two countries. Coming at his subject from a position of anti-violence, Patwardhan chronicles the plight of Indian citizens living close to the atomic testing sites, as well as the protests waged on the country from survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. ~ Michael Hastings, All Movie Guide
