Biography

With jawbones that could slice a diamond, a cleft-chin that puts Kirk Douglas' famous face to shame, and piercing blue eyes that make the Mediterranean Sea look muddy by comparison, it's no surprise that actor Jason Lewis got his start in the entertainment industry as a fashion model. While early stints for Guess Jeans and frequent appearances on the catwalk worked wonders to help the aspiring actor get comfortable in the presence of a camera, it wasn't until the mid-'90s that Lewis made his true aspirations known. Early roles in Beverly Hills 90201 and director Brad Anderson's 1998 comedy Next Stop Wonderland likely had many enchanted female viewers trying to recall where they had seen his face before (most likely in magazine ads for Guess Jeans or Tommy Hilfiger clothes), and in 2003, Lewis' hunky presence went a long way in spicing up the final season of Sex and the City.

Subsequent appearances in the supernatural television series Charmed and the 2005 thriller The Jacket found Lewis comfortably alternating between film and television, with his role in the 2006 romantic comedy My Bollywood Bride marking his arrival as a romantic male lead. Back on the small screen Lewis would become a semi-regular fixture on the series Brothers and Sisters before assuming the role of a recently deceased drug dealer in the 2007 crime drama The Death and Life of Bobby Z. That same year, Lewis also essayed the role of the Bible's most notorious fallen angel in the short film Lucifer in addition to making an appearance in the high-profile Kevin Costner thriller Mr. Brooks. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Early life

Lewis was born in Newport Beach, California, the son of Nancy, a nurse, and Gregory Lewis, a court judge;[1] the two are divorced.[2] He has three siblings, Sean, Katie and Nicole. In his teens he attended Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. He attended college at San Diego State University in San Diego, California, where he became a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Fellow fraternity brothers included Marc Iadanza (son of Tony Danza) and Jack Gilardi Jr. (son of Annette Funicello and Jack Gilardi). After college he started modeling, first in Paris and then with star status in Milan in the late 1990s for some of the biggest names in fashion, including Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss.

Career

Lewis appeared on Beverly Hills 90210 in 1997, playing a love interest of character Valerie (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen), but his most prominent role to date was in Sex and the City, where he was a fairly regular member of the show's cast in its final season as waiter turned emerging young actor Smith Jerrod, the one man whose sincerity got to Samantha. He reprised the role in Sex and the City: The Movie.

Lewis has appeared in several films: My Bollywood Bride, a Hollywood/Bollywood romantic comedy where Jason plays the leading man opposite Bollywood actress Kashmira Shah, and Mr. Brooks, a thriller, where he plays opposite Demi Moore and Kevin Costner. He is also known in Europe for playing the hunk on the Aero Advert for Aero Bubbles.

After appearing on the WB's supernatural drama Charmed, where he played the recurring role of Dex Lawson, a love interest (and brief husband) of Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano), it was announced on December 5, 2006, that he would be guest starring on upcoming episodes of Brothers & Sisters as a possible love interest to the Matthew Rhys character Kevin Walker. He signed on to do seven episodes to play Chad Barry, a closeted gay soap opera actor who finds it difficult trying to develop a relationship with Kevin while keeping his sexuality secret from the Hollywood press.[3] He reprised the role in an episode in April 2009. He also played a soap opera actor in the episode "Living The Dream" of House M.D.

Lewis is a supporter of the LGBT community. On May 10, 2008 Lewis attended the GLAAD 19th Annual Media Awards, a ceremony that celebrates gay-friendly actors and actresses as well as media outlets.[4]

In 2009 it was confirmed that Jason will reprise his role as Smith Jerrod in Sex and the City 2.

Lewis also appears and is highlighted on the cover in the limited-edition coffee table book by celebrity photographer John Russo. It was recently revealed that Jason is engaged to his girfriend Simone Frachetti.[5][6]
