Jason is a common given name for a male. It comes from Greek origin, meaning "healer" (from iasthai - to heal). It also appears in the Hebrew Bible and in this instance may represent a variant of Joshua. It was adopted as an English name in the 17th Century.[citation needed]
A feminine form of the name is Jacin, derived from the Spanish name Jacinta, or the Americanized version Jacinda - meaning Hyacinth.
