Plot

Noted jazz critic Ralph J. Gleason hosted a television series between 1960 and 1968 called Jazz Casual, in which he invited respected musicians to join him in discussing their craft and performing a few songs in a low-key atmosphere. Woody Herman was a particular favorite of Mr. Gleason, and this video features Herman's appearance on the May 24, 1963, edition of the show. Herman and his band (which for this date included Bill Chase on trumpet, Jake Hanna on drums, and Nat Pierce on piano, among others) perform seven tunes, including "A Taste of Honey," "Early Autumn," "Mood Indigo," and "Satin Doll." ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
