Review

Cab Calloway and his orchestra are heard on selections taken from four radio broadcasts dating from the 1943-46 era, a period when they were not recording that frequently. Although there are a few spots for Cab Calloway's vocals, the emphasis on this collectors' LP from the English Spotlite label is on such fine soloists as tenors Illinois Jacquet and Ike Quebec, trombonist Tyree Glenn and trumpeter Jonah Jones. Although not essential, swing collectors will enjoy this set. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
