JBS-Friboi (BM&F Bovespa: JBSS3) is the largest Brazilian multinational in the food industry, dedicated to producing beef, chicken and pork fresh, chilled and industrialized as well as by-products of the same. It was founded in 1953 in Anapolis, Goias.

Established itself as the world's largest company in the beef sector with the acquisition of several other stores and food companies in Brazil and in the world, with emphasis on the acquisition of U.S. firm Swift & Company today denomide of JBS USA in 2007. The Company reached already, the first mark in the world slaughter capacity - 51.4 thousand head per day - and kept the focus on production operations, processing and export plants nationally and internationally.

With the new acquisition, JBS entered the pork market featuring an impressive performance also in this segment to end the year as the third largest producer and processor of this type of meat in the U.S.. The acquisition increased the company's portfolio to include the rights to the Swift brand in the world.

JBS is embedded in 100% of the consumer markets of the world for its production structure, with plants installed in the 4 major producers of beef - Brazil, Argentina, USA and Australia - as well as the lead in exports, serving 110 countries.

On 16 September 2009 the company announced that has acquired o Grupo Bertin, one three of Brazilian market leaders, consolidating its position as the biggest in beef company in the world. The banks JP Morgan Chase and Santander Brasil assisted the transaction. On the same day it was announced that has acquired 64% from Pilgrim's Pride for a bid of 2,8 billion US dollars starting its position in the chicken production.
