JD Meeboer (born October 10, 1995) is a Canadian singer/songwriter. He appeared on the reality talent show, The Next Star at the Toronto, Ontario, having been promoted to the top 16 round during the audition process on May 28, 2011. On July 7, 2011, he was officially declared a top 6 contestant, but it wasn't publicly aired until August 9, 2011 on YTV.[1]
After writing his single, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly", with his producer Nicole Hughes, he performed a sneak peek of it. He later recorded another single, entitled "Turn It Up Up Up", with the other top 6 members, recording the video before leaving the show. The eventual winner, Charlie, was named during the finale on September 25, 2011. Following the conclusion of the show, Meeboer began performing in New Brunswick, with fellow top 6 contestant, Shania Fillmore.[2]

In 2010, prior to appearing on The Next Star, Meeboer performed around his hometown of Vineland, Ontario with his band, booking over 15 local appearances.[citation needed]
Following the filming of the talent show, Meeboer's single, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly" was rated #21 at the MuchMusic #Trending rates of 2011.[further explanation needed][citation needed]
His music video for his single, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly" has also appeared on Family Channel.
As of 2012[update], Meeboer continues to perform solo and with his band, as well as with Shania Fillmore in New Brunswick.[2] After doing the show with [Shania] (JD) continues on with his musical career in his hometown, Vineland.
In 2012 Meeboer and his band had entered the niagara singing contest and made the finals. Winner is yet to be revealed.
