Biography

Jeannie Macpherson was a busy woman in the silent film industry. Before coming to it, she was a dancer and theatrical entertainer. Beginning in 1908, Macpherson began appearing in films, most frequently with D.W. Griffith; after appearing in many films, she was later given her own unit at Universal where she began directing, writing, and acting in two-reelers. In 1915, she became a full-time screenwriter and collaborated on the most of the scripts for Cecil B. De Mille's silent films. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
