The Jellabiya (Arabic: الجلابية) or Jelabiya (pronounced Gellabiya in Egypt and "Jehllubeeya" in Eritrea) is a traditional Arab garment native to the Persian Gulf region worn by women as a casual dress or as evening wear depending on the amount of work, complication of design and beadwork. It dates back to the earliest days of civilization in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf.
Jellabiyas are also created for and worn by men. However, the latter feature a minimal amount of design and usually come in simple striped patterns or plain colors. Moreover, they are worn almost exclusively as nightwear or house-clothes.

Variation
- The Casual Jellabiya: This is often a casual garment using a minimal amount of textiles and design.
- The Evening Jellabiya: Several different mediums are used to create these Jellabiyas. They include, beadwork, embroidery, different stitch patterns, as well as various textiles such as silk, lace and even wool.
- The Wedding Jellabiya: Jellabiyas worn by the bride at weddings are much like evening Jellabiyas. However, they usually are quite expensive.
Jellabiya Designers
In all countries of the Persian Gulf, several local tailoring shops create a variety of Jellabiyas. Nevertheless, for those who desire a more luxurious option, several local designers create a range of haute couture Jellabiyas. Amina Al Jassim, Kubra Al Qaseer and Waleed Atallah are just a few of the well-known creators of "designer" Jellabiyas.
Jellabiya Brands
There are several brands (or designer labels) for jilbabs appearing in western Europe such Islamic Impressions, Silk Route Clothing and Aab. The Silk Route Clothing Jilbab Brand is more widley known and has greater market penetration.
Islamic Impressions is seen as the more contemporary brand. They have pioneered some of the most exclusive designs in Jilbabs and is fast becoming a famous label known by Muslim Women.
