Biography

Singer/songwriter Jennifer Warnes began singing as a child and practiced writing her own songs throughout high school. In 1968, at age 21, she signed a deal with Parrot Records and began her recording career, soon befriending musician Leonard Cohen, who Warnes would tour, record, and collaborate with for years to come.

In the following years, Warnes would cultivate a successful recording career, performing many popular songs on soundtracks, like "Up Where We Belong," a duet with Joe Cocker from the movie An Officer and a Gentleman; "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," a duet with Bill Medley from the film Dirty Dancing; and "As Long As We've Got Each Other," a duet with B.J. Thomas that served as the opening theme for the sitcom Growing Pains. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
