Biography
A veteran member of Harlem's famous Lafayette Players stock company, elderly Jessie Grayson was yet another African-American actress whose screen career was mainly spent playing maids. Having made her screen debut in the all-black One Dark Night (1939), Grayson enjoyed what was perhaps her best role two years later as the Giddenses' faithful factotum in The Little Foxes (1941). ~ Hans J.
