Food, phones, and flying are only a part of the JG Summit empire. In addition to its consumer foods, wireless telecommunications, and passenger airline operations, the Philippine conglomerate has interests in textile mills, real estate development, petrochemicals, and banking and financial services. JG Summit Holdings, Inc (PSE: JGS) is one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines with business interests in air transportation, banking, food manufacturing, hotels, petrochemicals, power generation, publishing, real estate and property development, and telecommunications. Companies that JG Summit Holdings has major holdings in include Digital Telecommunications Philippines and Cebu Pacific Air. Its chairman is John Gokongwei, who is one of the richest persons in Southeast Asia.^[3] It was one of the ten most profitable companies on the Philippine Stock Exchange for 2006.^[4]
