Biography

Not to be confused with the Guided By Voices bassist/Spin magazine writer of the same name, Jim Greer is a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, guitarist, and producer originally from Hudson, OH. After moving to San Francisco in 1994, Greer focused on honing his songwriting craft, resulting in the 1997 indie pop album Lucky Day. Greer subsequently played keyboards as a sideman with lounge-revivalists Tipsy, and also joined rapper Dr. Octagon's (aka Kool Keith's) touring band. After producing the Gun & Doll Show, Greer returned in late 1998 with Rover Songs, which drew praise for its quirky, unpretentious pop. The Big Thieves Jail the Little Thieves, Greer's third album, followed in late 2000. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
