Jimena de la Frontera is a town and municipality located in the province of Cádiz, Spain. According to estimates made by the National Statistics Institute of Spain (INE), the municipality has a population of 9,893 inhabitants in 2006.
It is within the Los Alcornocales Natural Park.
Jimena has changed over the last thirty years, once a remote village, now a melting pot of ex-pats from all of Europe. The entrance to Jimena was once covered by a canopy of eucalyptus trees, later cut down to assist parking at the new homes built next to the Ferai grounds at the lower end of town.
The castle(s) are of both Moorish and Roman origin. There are also a number of buildings owned by the vatican.
