This 15-minute puppet show had the distinction of being the first children's program ever carried by the Yorkshire Television service of Britain's ITV. Featuring several characters from the repertoire of the prestigious Harlequin Puppet Theatre, the series charted the adventures of a time-traveling (and remarkably homely) youngster as he found himself at various important historical junctures, such as the burning of Rome. Thirteen episodes were filmed in all. Jimmy Green and His Time Machine debuted the same day as Yorkshire Television itself on July 29, 1968, bracketed between two cricket telecasts at 1:25 p.m. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
