Joachim I
Joachim I (1484-1535, Stendal), in full Joachim Nestor, was Elector of Brandenburg from 1499 until his death. He founded the University of Frankfurt/Oder (1506), added the county of Ruppin to his dominions in 1516, and established a claim to the inheritance of Pomerania in 1529. He was an opponent of the Reformation. Joachim is a prominent figure in two novels by W. Alexis, Die Hosen des Herrn von Bredow and Der Wärwolf.
