Jobabo is a municipality and city in the Las Tunas Province of Cuba. It is located in the southern part of the province, 34 km (21 mi) south of Victoria de Las Tunas, the provincial capital.
Jobabo is named from the taino word jobabol, meaning "a place where many jobo trees grow".[3]
Demographics
In 2004, the municipality of Jobabo had a population of 49,403.[2] With a total area of 884 km2 (341.3 sq mi),[1] it has a population density of 55.9/km² (144.8/sq mi).
