Plot

The British comedy team of Gareth Hale and Norman Pace was spotlighted on this three-part documentary series, which would seem to have been inspired by the writings of "everyman" author George Plympton. Each of the series' hour-long episodes found Hale and Pace endeavoring to learn a profession that would normally take a lifetime to master within a matter of six months. On the first episode, the duo played on a professional polo team; on the second, they tried their hand at fashion designing; and in the third, they produced a TV toilet-tissue commercial from start to finish, with the fruits of their efforts actually making the airwaves as a "legitimate" advertisement. An amusing exercise in vicarious wish-fulfillment, Jobs for the Boys was broadcast by BBC1 in 1997. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
