Joe Chiccarelli is an American Grammy Award winning music producer best known for the huge amount of production work he did in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. He produced albums by Kajagoogoo, The White Stripes, Stan Ridgway, Oingo Boingo, Ferron, Sandra Bernhard, Spirit of the West, Counting Crows, U2, The Shins and countless others. He also engineered Frank Zappa's albums Sheik Yerbouti (1979), Joe's Garage Acts I, II & III (1979) and Tinseltown Rebellion (1981) - it was this work with Zappa that led My Morning Jacket to approach him to produce their 2008 album Evil Urges.
He is also credited with discovering singer Tori Amos and signing her first band, Y Kant Tori Read, to a label deal. He recently helped Louisville, KY rockers My Morning Jacket produce their new album, Evil Urges, Portland rock band Castella produce their album How Did We Get Here, and Australian band Augie March produce their new album Watch Me Disappear.
