Biography
Joe King was born on May 25, 1980 in Colorado, and is of Spanish descent. He attended Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, Colorado.[1] Before his success with The Fray, King attended school while he worked as an auto damage appraiser for Hanks Auto Body West. He is married, and has two daughters.
In February 2009, King gave an interview to the Outdoor Life magazine, where he talked about his love of elk and big game hunting.[2]
Career
King joined with vocalist/pianist Isaac Slade in 2002 to form the band The Fray. King and Slade were former schoolmates who decided to start a band after meeting each other in a record store. Before forming The Fray, King had previously been in bands of his own, including "Spruce" and "Fancy's Show Box".
On the band's first album, How to Save a Life (2005), King co-wrote every song except one ("Hundred") and provided lead vocals on the song "Heaven Forbid", which he wrote for his sister. He also co-wrote every song on the band's 2009 self-titled sophomore album The Fray except two - "Say When" and "Happiness". He also sang lead vocals on the song "Ungodly Hour."
King also provides vocals in the song "Undertow" off the Timbaland album 'Shock Value 2'.
King is the oldest member of The Fray.
