Biography

Singer/guitarist Joe López met Jimmy González while attending high school in Brownsville, TX. Sharing a passion for popular music, they assembled a band called Grupo Mazz in 1978, becoming one of the first Tejano acts to introduce keyboards. In 1999, after two decades of playing together, Joe López and Jimmy González went different ways, forming Joe López y La Nueva Imagen Mazz and Jimmy González y el Grupo Mazz, respectively. After issuing Mazz Fuerte Que Nunca, a mix of danceable Cumbias and Tejano style, EMI Latin released Fuerte, featuring the hit single "Atrapado." ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
