(b ?Brabant, c 1460; d c 1514). Franco-Netherlands composer. He was maître de chapelle to Louis XII. A follower of Ockeghem, he was named among the best-known contemporary musicians. His works, which include one of the earliest-known polyphonic settings of the Mass for the Dead, five other masses, six Magnificats, motets and chansons, show a skilled, polished composer.
