Rev Dr John C.A. Barrett is an Englishman who is the chairman and elected president of the World Methodist Council. He is the principal of Anglo-Chinese School (International) in Singapore and is the former headmaster of The Leys School, Cambridge, where he was the headmaster from 1990 to 2004.
Educated at Culford School, Barrett graduated with a B.A. (Hons) degree of Economics from University of Newcastle upon Tyne and an M.A. in Theology from the University of Cambridge, and was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Florida for his Methodism. He also has experience teaching the GCSE in Religious Studies.
From 1973 to 1983, he was Chaplain to Kingswood School, Bath.
On 24 July 2006 at the World Methodist Conference in Seoul, he was appointed the chairman of the council and the elected president, succeeding Sunday Mbang from Nigeria.[1]
