John Maunders
John Kenneth Maunders (born 4 April 1981, Ashford, Middlesex, England) is an English cricketer.
John Maunders was born in Ashford Middlesex and initially played his cricket for Ashford Cricket Club where he was a key member of a very good colts side, he is very close to his family and has a number of relatives, including his grandfather Ken, that have also played good cricket.
Maunders is an opening batsman who has hit 5 centuries in his professional first class career, which started with Middlesex CCC, where he was given limited first team opportunity but performed well at second team level. After failing to break through into the MCCC first team John moved to Leicestershire CCC where he became a regular in the Championship side during the 2005 season and while he has shown he has the talent to succeed, unfortunately he hasn't yet shown the consistency required of a top class cricketer. He also bowls part time medium pace and has 24 wickets to his name.
Earlier in his career he represented England in U19 test cricket, and participated in an U19 World Cup in India, but a stomach llness limited his game time.
He was one of six cricketers to be released by LCCC in October 2007, and will almost certianly be striving for another club where he will be able to prove his undoubted talent.
