Biography

American cinematographer John Mescall came to Hollywood in the late 1910s as a lab assistant; by 1920, he had become a full-fledged lighting cameraman and went on to film many silent and sound films for many studios until the mid-'40s when he began specializing as a trick-photography consultant.
