Irish Literature Companion: John Michelburne

Michelburne, John (1647-1721), an English soldier who was joint Governor with Revd George Walker during the siege of Derry in 1689, and sole Governor when Walker left for London after the relief in July. Michelburne's wife and seven children died in the siege. He published The Siege of London-derry (1705), illustrating the piety and valour of the garrison.
