Dr John Mulcahy was previously the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Suncorp-Metway Ltd, the largest general insurance group and fifth largest bank in Australia (as at September 2009.)
He is currently a Board Member of the Australian Government Future Fund, and was appointed for a five year period beginning 3 April 2006. He also joined Coffey International Limited, an engineering consultancy firm, as a non-executive director on 25 September 2009[1].
Life
Dr Mulcahy previously held a number of senior roles within the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, including the role of Group Executive, Investment and Insurance Services[2], and recently presided over Suncorp's takeover of the Promina group. During his time at Suncorp it became the first ever Queensland-based company to post a profit of over $1b.
Prior to joining the Commonwealth Bank of Australia he was Chief Executive Officer of Lend Lease Property Investment Services and Chief Executive Officer of Civil and Civic.
