jostling

Massage stroke in which a muscle is grasped at its point of origin, and shaken gently back and forth while the athlete relaxes. The stroke continues all the way down the muscle to the point of insertion and then back again. Jostling is used mainly to relax muscle (for example, between deep stroking) and is claimed to reduce the stretch reflex.
