Judgment (ジャッジメント Jajjimento?) is a character in the Guilty Gear fighting game series, making his first appearance in the game, Guilty Gear Judgment. Judgment is a transformation of the main villain from the game, the evil scientist Raymond. He is also a playable character in Guilty Gear Raid of Arms with some improvements, including the added overdrive Endless Penance.

Story

Background

Judgment was originally Raymond, a mad scientist working on the remote island of Isene and exploiting its inhabitants, trying to create a living weapon that would surpass even the gears. He believed his work was the work of God.

Guilty Gear Judgment

Raymond is devoured by Inus, a dark king of the underworld, who is subsequently killed. This allows Raymond to take control of Inus's power, transforming himself into Judgment.

Music references

While there are not many references to any specific bands with the character, the music played in the background when the player fights Judgement in Guilty Gear Judgement bares a slight resemblance to the song 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica. He shares his name with a rock band, and several songs performed by many different bands. His overdrive "Endless Penance" could well be named after the band Penance.

Trivia

  • In much the same way as Daisuke Ishiwatari, the director of the main Guilty Gear games, voices series protagonist Sol Badguy, Judgment director Takayuki Ideriha voices Judgment.
  • Judgements clothing bears a resemblance to that of the Holy Orders members, which is ironic in the sense that he battles the organization, but still believes himself to be working for God.
  • He has similarities with Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske, he is strong about his religious beliefs, similar to Ky, but is a scientist working on a very destructive and powerful project, a parallel of Sol's past as he worked on the Jinki and the Gear projects as well, whether the similarity is intentional is unknown.
