Biography

On-stage from childhood, British actress Judi Bowker first attracted international attention as star of the 1972 TV-series version of Black Beauty. Bowker was brought to the big screen by Franco Zefferelli, who cast her as Clare in the 1973 Francis of Assissi biopic Brother Sun, Sister Moon. Her best-known film appearance was as Andromeda in the Ray Harryhausen swashbuckler Clash of the Titans (1981). Judi Bowker (born 6 April 1954) is an English television and cinema actress. Her roles include Princess Andromeda in the film Clash of the Titans (1981) and Saint Clare in Franco Zeffirelli's Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972).

Biography

Bowker was born in Shawford, Hampshire, England. On stage from childhood, she first attracted international attention as the star of The Adventures of Black Beauty, a 1972 TV series which was a "continuation" of the movie. She also starred as Clare of Assisi in the movie Brother Sun, Sister Moon. Her other well-known film appearance was as Princess Andromeda in the 1981 Ray Harryhausen film, Clash of the Titans, which starred Laurence Olivier and Harry Hamlin.

She is married to Harry Meacher. She is also a trained ballerina.
